Northern Radar, with partners, builds and installs High Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR or HF Radar) systems for long range surveillance of coastal areas out extent of the EEZ. It is the only land based technology that can detect and track targets reliably to greater than 200 nautical miles from shore based sites. The technology is also capable of measuring and mapping ocean surface currents, sea state and surface winds.
Systems have been already deployed internationally and have operated for greater than 10 years.
